Note: In my classes, I refer to them as a hip shimmy when your weight is over your heels and the movement in your hips is greater, and a thigh shimmy or layering shimmy when your weight is over the balls of your feet.

One note about the hip circle: bend knees and shift weight forward to keep back neutral instead of pushing hips forward and curving spine.
